Ibáñez Atkinson Young Artist Program

This pioneering talent development program in opera singing in Latin America seeks to support and develop the skills of exceptionally talented young singers through technical instruction of the highest standard. This program takes place at the Santiago Municipal Theater and is mentored by professionals like John Norris (Munich and Berlin operas), Evamaria Wieser (Salzburg Festival), David Gowland (Royal Opera House), Michael Heaston (Metropolitan Opera House), Bruno Nicola (Teatro alla Scala), David Lomelí (Santa Fe Opera), among others.

Students receive rigorous instruction and training in the multidimensional techniques of the art of operatic singing, as both actors and singers, through intensive study with voice coaches and in areas like acting, musical language, foreign languages, career guidance and professional coaching. They are also eligible for performance opportunities at the Santiago Municipal Theater during its official season.

Kodály Institute

The Kodály Institute at the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation seeks to develop and expand the vision of Hungarian composer and educator Zoltán Kodály in Chile and Latin America. This vision aims to promote exceptional music education for all while also preserving the traditional music and cultural heritage of Latin America.

At the very core of the Kodály experience is the concept of “learning by playing,” for teacher and student alike. Through play, learners are introduced to not only musical elements, but also values intrinsic to humans. Understanding their voice and their auditory ability while engaging with their folklore and roots will give students a musical identity from their own environment.
