PLT teacher training program

This program provides training opportunities for educators, giving them tools and teaching materials to incorporate environmental content into the different subjects of their school curriculum. These sessions are accompanied by advising from expert speakers, along with the materials and methodology provided by Project Learning Tree, the international program with which the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation partners.

In-School Naturaleza Educa

This program is inserted into the school curriculum, equipping teachers with tools to promote learning about wetlands and building awareness in children of their importance and protection through field trips. These initiatives are being carried out in the Laguna de Huiscapi Wetland (La Araucanía) in alliance with the Kennedy Foundation; the La Laguna de Zapallar Wetland (Valparaíso Region), together with the Municipality of Zapallar and the Lontra Foundation; and the Petrel Wetland (O’Higgins Region), with the Punta de Lobos Park.

Partnership with UC Center for Local Development

The Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation has had an agreement with Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2019 to jointly promote education for Chile’s sustainable development. As part of this alliance, the foundation conducts and supports diverse activities at the university’s Villarrica Campus, through its UC Center for Local Development.

Explorando mi Entorno Contest

Organized by the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation and Cedel UC, this contest was created in 2022 to promote ecological learning in school communities through inquiries that encourage respect and care for Chile’s ecosystems.

It invites sixth- to eighth-grade students to explore and highlight a local ecosystem and later present their findings in a three-minute video. After a successful pilot version in the Araucanía Region, the contest has been expanded to several other regions in Chile.
