What began in 2022 with the launch of the book collection “Cuentos de las islas de Chiloé” (Tales from the Islands of Chiloé), is today a major commitment to the large island community. Through heritage projects, we seek to revitalize and enhance the value of the Chiloé churches, a unique example of religious architecture in Latin America and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Alliance with Chiloé Heritage Churches Foundation

As part of our conservation work, since 2023 we have supported a project to rewire churches in Colo, Detif, Caguach, Ichuac and San Juan to meet current electrical codes, making them safer and preventing possible fires.

We also developed a community management program for the San Juan, Dalcahue and Tenaún churches, which included devising management models and conducting practical workshops on administration and fund raising, among other topics.

In addition, thanks to an unprecedented initiative, 16 UNESCO World Heritage churches were opened every day for six months, with a local host specially trained to give tours and tell each church’s particular story. As a result of these efforts, a record 280,000 people enjoyed these architectural landmarks between 2024 and 2025.

Educational family

Because we believe in the irreplaceable power of education as a pillar of development, all of our work areas have educational programs focused on children, youth and adults.
