Spectacular closing of the South America Region auditions for the Met Opera’s Laffont Competition
Thanks to the partnership between FIA and the Met Opera, young singers from the region had the opportunity to advance directly to this prestigious competition during the 2025–2026 season, with sopranos Camila Romero (Chile) and Valeria Delmé (Argentina) reaching the semifinals. Our board members, Heather Atkinson and Antonia Ibáñez, along with General Manager Daniela del Valle and Music Manager Andrés Rodríguez Spoerer, accompanied both artists to New York for an itinerary that also included meetings with business leaders, philanthropists and cultural leaders.

Huiscapi Lagoon designated as an urban wetland
The Ministry of the Environment officially designated Laguna de Huiscapi as an urban wetland, thereby ensuring its legal protection against threats and promoting restoration. This welcome news comes after years of conservation and education efforts in partnership with the Kennedy Foundation.

With his interpretation of the arias “Cara sposa” and “Verdi prati” by Handel, this artist from the small Chilean town of Curepto became one of nine opera singers from around the world who will take part in the grand finale of this prestigious European competition to be held on November 18 at the Marigny Theater.
