Sebastián Camaño stood out among more than 200 applicants for the second-highest position in the historic Gewandhaus Orchestra, behind principal conductor Ivan Repušić, thus becoming the first Chilean to join this prestigious opera house. Since 2020, with support from FIA, the musician has been pursuing his career in Germany, where he studied and has taken on various artistic engagements, including his current role as a piano accompanist at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.

Thanks to the partnership between FIA and the Met Opera, young singers from the region had the opportunity to advance directly to this prestigious competition during the 2025–2026 season, with sopranos Camila Romero (Chile) and Valeria Delmé (Argentina) reaching the semifinals. Our board members, Heather Atkinson and Antonia Ibáñez, along with General Manager Daniela del Valle and Music Manager Andrés Rodríguez Spoerer, accompanied both artists to New York for an itinerary that also included meetings with business leaders, philanthropists and cultural leaders.

Selected from more than 230 applicants, 22 Chilean and Latin American artists from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and other countries in the region prepared with the acclaimed coach Eytan Pessen for the FIA International Auditions, conducted over two days in the Arrau Hall at the Santiago Municipal Theater.
