Churches in Chiloé to Stay Open for an extended period

A piece in Santiago’s El Mercurio newspaper announced the alliance between the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation and the Chiloé Heritage Churches Foundation that will enable the 16 churches declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites to remain open throughout the year.

These churches are located in Castro, Dalcahue, Puqueldón, Quinchao, Chonchi and Quemchi. Until now only open at certain times, they can now be visited from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, for an extended period.

This initiative to highlight the island’s cultural richness is also possible thanks to 16 committed community members serving as tour guides to share their experience and knowledge of these churches.
